RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar simulação, verificando a rentabilidade de um sistema agrossilvicultural composto por eucalipto, arroz, soja e gado, de acordo com a variação do espaçamento de plantio do eucalipto e dos sistemas agroflorestais, bem como comparar os resultados com o plantio convencional do eucalipto. A análise econômica foi realizada mediante os métodos de avaliação de projetos florestais, Valor Presente Líquido (VPL), Benefício Periódico Equivalente (BPE), Razão Benefício/Custo (B/C) e Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR). Todos os projetos analisados apresentaram-se viáveis economicamente, sendo que o eucalipto em monocultivo apresentou melhores resultados. Verificou-se que o ganho em área com plantio das culturas agrícolas e criação de gado não obtém o mesmo retorno econômico caso a área estivesse com plantio de árvores.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to simulate and verify the rentability of an agroforestry system composed of eucalipt, rice, soybean e cattle, according to the spacing variation in the plantation of eucalypt and agroforestry system, and compare the results with conventional eucalypt planting. Financial analysis was performed through the forestry project evaluation methods, Net Present Value (VPL), Equivalent Annual Value (VAE), Benefit/Cost Relation (B/C) and Internal Return Rate (TIR). All projects were shown to be economically viable, with eucalyptus monoculture showing the best results. We verified that the gain in area with planting of crops agricultural and cattle creation did not lead to the same financial return if this area was planted with trees.

RESUMO Este estudo tem como objetivo realizar análises econômica e de risco de investimento em plantios de eucalipto situados em Minas Gerais, considerando a influência do custo do seguro de florestas, evidenciando o seu impacto no projeto. Os custos de implantação e condução são oriundos de plantios de eucalipto localizados no Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais. O custo do seguro de florestas foi obtido por meio de uma simulação de cotação junto à uma seguradora. Para a avaliação econômica utilizou-se o Valor Presente Líquido (VPL), a Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR) e o Benefício Periódico Equivalente (BPE). Procedeu-se a análise de sensibilidade de risco pelo método de Monte Carlo. A análise econômica realizada foi considerada viável por todos os indicadores utilizados em todas as três situações trabalhadas. Mas, pela análise de risco de investimento, tem-se a probabilidade de 11,5% de chances do valor de VPL estar abaixo de zero na situação 1, 18,5% na situação 2 e 25% na situação 3. O custo do seguro de florestas aumenta a probabilidade de valor negativo para os indicadores econômicos, pois ele aumenta o custo do projeto, porém ele foi input o que menos influenciou no valor final do VPL. A subvenção do governo reduz a probabilidade do risco de investimento, uma vez que diminui o custo do seguro de florestas.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to carry out economic and risk assessment of eucalyptus plantations located in Minas Gerais, considering the influence of the cost of forest insurance, evidencing its impact on the project. The costs of implementation and driving come from eucalyptus plantations located in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais. The cost of forest insurance was obtained through a simulation of a quote from an insurer. For the economic evaluation, the Net Present Value (NPV), the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and the Equivalent Periodic Benefit (EPB) were used. The risk sensitivity analysis was performed by the Monte Carlo method. The economic analysis was considered viable by all indicators used in all three situations. However, by the analysis of investment risk, we have a probability of 11.5% chance of NPV being below zero in situation 1, 18.5% in situation 2 and 25% in situation 3. The cost of Forest insurance increases the likelihood of negative value for economic indicators, as it increases the cost of the project, but it was input that less influenced the final value of the NPV. The government grant reduces the likelihood of investment risk as it lowers the cost of forest insurance.

Este trabalho analisou e estimou, conforme metodologia apresentada em Passos e Nogami (2006), o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) do setor florestal brasileiro, no período de 1994 a 2008. Os resultados indicaram que o setor florestal contribuiu para o PIB brasileiro, mas essa contribuição diminuiu ao longo dos anos; o segmento da madeira processada mecanicamente foi o que mais contribuiu para o PIB do setor florestal; o aumento no PIB nominal foi causado, em grande parte, pelo incremento dos preços dos produtos florestais; e o segmento de produtos florestais não madeireiros perdeu participação no PIB do setor florestal.

The present work analyzed and calculated, according to the methodology presented in Passos and Nogami (2006), the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Brazilian forest section, from 1994 to 2008. The results indicated that the forest section contributed to the brazilian GDP, but that contribution has reduced along the years; the segment of mechanically processed wood was the one that contributed the most to the GDP of the forest section; the increase in nominal GDP was caused, most of the times, by the increase of the prices of the forest products; and the segment of non-wood forest products lost participation in GPD of the forest section.

O Estado do Piauí vem se destacando na produção de carvão vegetal e a maioria das carvoarias se concentra na região sul do Estado. Estas carvoarias justificam suas atividades com a ideia de promover o incremento econômico na região. Neste sentido, este trabalho tem por objetivo diagnosticar e quantificar os impactos socioeconômicos gerados pela indústria carvoeira para a população do município de Curimatá. Para isto, foi realizada uma coleta de dados em campo, dividida em duas fases: entrevistas em profundidade e aplicação de formulários, com empreendedores, funcionários das carvoarias e população do município. Os dados coletados durante os dois meses de pesquisa em campo foram tabulados em planilha Excel®, tendo sido gerados os respectivos valores percentuais de forma a facilitar a análise. Os resultados demonstram divergência entre as respostas de funcionários e da população, na medida em que a atividade carvoeira atuante no município de Curimatá parece não satisfazer a população, priorizando apenas poucas pessoas envolvidas diretamente nesta atividade.

The state of Piauí has been excelling in the production of charcoal, and most producers are concentrated in the southern region of the state. These producers justify their activities with the idea of promoting economic growth in the region. In this sense, this work aims to diagnose and quantify the economic impacts generated by the coal industry to the population of the municipality of Curimatá. To this end, field data collection was carried out in two phases through in-depth interviews and application of forms to entrepreneurs and employees of the charcoal segment and the municipality's population. The data collected during the two months of field research were tabulated in Excel® spreadsheet and their respective percentages were generated in order to facilitate analysis. The results show differences between the responses of employees and population. The charcoal activity in the municipality of Curimatá does not seem to satisfy the population, prioritizing only a few citizens directly involved in this activity.

Neste estudo, objetivou-se analisar a competitividade da madeira serrada brasileira no mercado internacional, no período de 2000 a 2007. As ferramentas metodológicas utilizadas para confrontar a competitividade do Brasil com a de seus principais concorrentes foram os índices de Posição Relativa no Mercado (PRM) e Vantagem Comparativa Revelada (VCR). Os resultados apontaram para o fato de que, embora o Brasil tenha se mostrado competitivo, faz-se necessária a utilização de estratégias mercadológicas que visem a aumentar a competitividade do país nesse setor.

This study aimed to analyze the competitiveness of Brazilian lumber on the international market in the period 2000 to 2007. The methodological tools used to compare the competitiveness of Brazil with its main competitors were the rates of Relative Position Marketing (PRM) and Revealed Comparative Advantage (VCR). The results point out to the fact that, although Brazil has proved competitive, it is necessary to use marketing strategies aimed at increasing the country's competitiveness in this sector.

Neste artigo, buscou analisar a competitividade da produção de palmito de pupunha no Brasil, fazendo estudo comparativo entre o sistema produtivo praticado em áreas motomecanizáveis com irrigação e em áreas não motomecanizáveis sem irrigação. Para atingir esse objetivo, empregou-se a matriz de análise política (MAP). Os resultados indicaram que esses dois sistemas de produção considerados tiveram rentabilidade positiva nos mercados interno e externo, evidenciando que a produção de palmito de pupunha é competitiva, porém os lucros foram reduzidos em razão das políticas públicas adotadas.

This article analyzes the competitiveness of pejibaye heart of palm production in Brazil, doing one comparative study among the productive system practiced in flat areas with irrigation and in hilly areas without irrigation. For this, the policy analysis matrix (PAM) was utilized. The results showed evidence that the two production systems considered had positive profitability in domestic and international markets, demonstrating that the production of pejibaye palm of heart is competitive; however, the profits were reduced by the public policies adopted.

Tendo em vista que o estabelecimento de plantios florestais em propriedades rurais tem se tornado uma prática frequente onde o número de propriedades com plantações de culturas florestais é cada vez maior, torna-se necessário aprimorar as metodologias de avaliação destas propriedades com florestas, uma vez que a comercialização destas será uma prática cada vez mais comum. Portanto, objetivou-se, com este trabalho, realizar um estudo comparativo de três métodos de avaliação de terras florestais: valor de mercado, valor de custo e valor produtivo. Para isso, foi considerado um plantio de eucalipto cujo ciclo final de corte seria aos 7 anos. Os resultados mostraram uma grande diferença entre os métodos avaliados. O valor de mercado foi o que teve uma maior variação com o avançar da idade da floresta, se igualando ao valor produtivo no final do ciclo. No ano 0, o valor de mercado foi o que se mostrou com menores valores e no ano 7 o valor de custo foi o que se mostrou de menor valor. É importante que pesquisas e estudos mais específicos sejam realizados com o intuito de se obterem metodologias mais específicas para valorar este tipo de imóvel rural dada as suas peculiaridades.

Given the increasingly frequent practice of forest stand establishment in rural properties, with a steadily rising number of properties becoming home to forest crops, there is a pressing need to improve property assessment methodologies, as more and more crops will be entering the market. The objective of this work is thus to perform a comparative study of three methods of forestland assessment: market value, cost value and productive value. To that end, an eucalyptus stand with a 7-year final cutting cycle was considered. Results showed a substantial difference among methods. Market value provided greater variation with the advancing of forest age, equaling productive value toward the end of the cycle. In year 0, market value provided the lowest values, while in year 7 cost value provided the lowest values. Further and more specific research and studies should be performed to obtain more specific methodologies to value this type of rural property and all of its peculiarities.

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a competitividade da produçãodepalmitodepupunhanoEspíritoSantoeemSãoPaulopormeiodaMatriz de Análise Política (MAP). Os resultados mostram que as lucratividades privadas e sociais da produção e comercialização do palmito de pupunha são positivas em ambos os estados analisados e superiores às obtidas por culturas tradicionais, como a soja, e por produtos florestais, como a borracha natural. Entre esses estados, São Paulo apresenta maior lucratividade na produção de palmito, logo, é mais competitivo que o Espírito Santo. Entretanto, essas lucratividades poderiam ter sido maiores se produtores não tivessem sido penalizados por políticas públicas distorcivas.

This work aims to analyze the competitiveness of pejibaye palm heart production in Espírito Santo and São Paulo states by applying the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). Results show that the private and social profitabilities of pejibaye palm heart production and trading were positive in both states and are higher than those obtained by traditional crops, such as soybean, and by forest products, such as natural rubber. São Paulo production was more profitable, being thus more competitive than Espirito Santo. However, these profitabilities could have been higher if producers were not exposed to negative effects of distorted public policies.

Neste estudo, objetivou-se realizar a análise financeira e uma simulação de risco de investimento em um projeto de produção de palmito de pupunha (Bactris gasipaes Kunth.). A análise financeira foi realizada mediante a aplicação dos métodos de avaliação de projetos: VPL, VAE, TIR e B/C; e para a análise de risco utilizou-se a técnica de simulação de Monte Carlo, mediante o programa @RISK. Concluiu-se que o projeto de produção de palmito de pupunha é viável, com VPL de R$ 3.549,08; TIR de 19%; B/C maior que 1; e o VAE obtido foi de R$ 1.049,12. A análise de risco de investimento mostrou que o projeto apresenta uma probabilidade de 5% de se obter um valor negativo para o VPL. As variáveis que afetaram o VPL, na sua ordem de importância, foram: preço de venda do palmito, produtividade e taxa de juros.

This study carried out an economic study and a risk simulation analysis in a palm heart of pejibaye (Bactris gasipaes Kunth.) cultivation project. Economic analysis was made by using the project evaluation methods: NPV, VAE, TIR and B/C; and the risk analysis was carried out through the Monte Carlo simulation technique by @RISK software. It was concluded that the project of palm heart of pejibaye cultivation is viable, with NPV of R$ 3.549,08; TIR of 19%; B/C greater than 1; the VAE of R$ 1.049,12. The risk analysis showed that the project presents a probability of 5% of getting a negative value for VPL. The variables which affected Net Present Value (NPV) according to the ranking of importance were: selling price, productivity and discount rate.
